Niigata's rice is famous in Japan and especially Koshihikari cultivated in Uonuma region is known as "Uonuma Koshihikari" and praised as the best rice in Japan. Since they have land suited for rice growing, sake and rice cracker are produced a lot too. Also, the number of hot spring ranks 3rd in Japan, attracting many tourists. "Noppei soup" is famous local food.
