Shimane is the setting of Izumo myth and there are many old shrines left up until today. Izumo Taisha, known to have the god of marriage, Kamosu Jinja, Koujindani Iseki, and Kamoiwakura Iseki are registered as the national treasure and there are many tourists visiting. There is World Heritage Site, Iwami Ginzan (silver mine) too. The local food is "Izumo soba", which is one of the 3 best soba in Japan.
