Non-poto

Held on the last Sunday of every January, this marathon started in 1981, and sees more than five thousand participants each year. Flowers blooming along the Boso Flower Line course make for a beautiful run, and at the Tateyama bay, which has become one of Japan’s top ten scenic views, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance. Lotteries and TV coverage fills the eve of the marathon, and with the volunteer and staff spectacular service, many runners come back year after year.

Tourist locations

Tateyama has a warm climate due to the Kuroshio Current, and has many resorts. Tateyama Family Park, where flowers bloom all year round, Joyama Park which is famous for cherry blossoms and azaleas, and the Boso Peninsula where it is possible to enjoy fresh fish, are excellent places for sightseeing.
