- Published 2010.7.13
The word “koro”(香炉) refers to the altar where incense is burned, and is often found in front of the main temple on grounds. By rubbing the smoke let off by the koro onto one’s body, it is said that that person will have sound health. Many people can be seen doing this, but the original purpose of this action was to purify the body before meeting Buddha.
