Hokkaido

Hokkaido is located at the northest of Japan. Agriculture and farming are popular, with number one production of potato and 40% share of milk in Japan. The "Sapporo Yuki Matsuri", is the famous winter events where many snow statues is built in the Sapporo city. There is also Shiretoko Peninsula, one of the world heritages, where beautiful nature stands still. Also, the unique name of places is another feature of Hokkaidou. This is because the names were taken from the Ainu language, the native Japanese who lived in northern Japan. The famous local food is "Ishikari Nabe" which has salmon and vegetables stewed in with soup made from miso.
