Ibaraki

Ibaraki has several characteristics, industry, agriculture, and science. They are famous for natto production and especially the natto made in the capital Mito, the Mito natto is the most widely known natto in Japan. Also, in Tsukuba city located in the southern part, there is is one of the best science, research city in the world, "the Tsukuba Science City". And not only that but there is Mountain Tsukuba that is compared as the same level as Mt. Fuji with the word, "Fuji of the west, Tsukuba of the East". This Mt. Tsukuba is also called "purple mountain" because it changes its color depending on the light. "Ankou nabe" or goosefish pot and "soboro natto", mixture of natto and dried strips of radish are the local food.
