The skinny jeans, sheep skin boots, leather-like leggings, long length jacket, and flashy maximum length dress. These styles in fashion are from LA celebrities and Japanese girls are taken in their style. However, there is a item that Japanese girls wear a lot that the other people do not. That is Japanese original trend, "trenka"! Considering the fact that trenka does not show up in "Sex and the City", could it be nonsense to the world standard?

Let's describe trenka just in case you don't know what it is. The way to use and the material are pretty much the same as leggings. The difference is that trenka does not end at your ankle but covers your insteps too. Since the cloth is longer than leggings, your legs look 5cm longer! Also, the color black, which is the most popular color, makes your leg skinnier so just by wearing this, you can make your legs look pretty! If you have trenka, you don't have to worry about short and thick legs and hesitate wearing short skirts or short pants.

The reason Japanese girls wear trenka is not because it is cute. The major reasons are to make them look like they have better proportion and that they are shy to show out their legs. Actually they don't want to wear them but they say it is better to bear with the heat than to show their legs. So trenka signifies the Japanese habit of being overly conscious over other people's gaze. Perhaps from the point of view of western girls who don't care how their legs look but wear what they want, it is hard to understand to need of trenka.

Then, from the point of view of men, it may be sad to have less exposure of body. Not exactly. Surprisingly, there are quite few Japanese men who actually like the line of trenka. Perhaps they think it’s hot and see sexiness in it. Which do you like? The exposed legs, leggings that cover some of the legs, trenka that covers most of it, or knee high socks that shows only the thigh? If you ask this question to the men all over the world, we may find out the difference in culture from their answers!
