The reason why Japanese people strongly support Studio Ghibli works as being “cool Japan.”

Tokyo Polytechnic University found that in a recent study, out of all movies that they would like to introduce to the rest of the world, every generation picked Studio Ghibli films as number one. Seventy-six percent of Japanese people supported Studio Ghibli.

For the 763 people who voted Studio Ghibli films as being “cool,” the majority, 78.9% said that it was because of the “beauty of the film and expressive power of space.” With over 20 points of difference, 58.6% said that it was because of the “world appearance,” and 57.3% said that it was because of the “themes discussed in the film, and the entire message.”
