It is consumed a lot in Kyoto, used as an ingredient of Chawanmushi (cup-steamed egg custard hotchpotch) or Ganmodoki (deep-fried bean curd containing bits of various kinds of vegetables). It is very nutritious and therefore is also used as a herbal medicine.
