Yakitori skewers

Regarding the reason why yakitori is served on skewers, there is a choice needed to be made with every skewer cuisine so to speak, and for yakitori there are three reasons.

1,To complete the appearance

Skewers are used for tender and crumble prone foods in order to make the outward appearance appealing. Foods which also use skewers are dengaku, tofu baked and coated in miso, as well as unaginokabayaki, eel broiled in soy sauce.

2,Easy to eat

Small round foods are hard to pick up with chopsticks, but are easy to eat with skewers.

3,Efficient

Plenty of Japanese cuisine is skewered before presented. Examples of such food include banquet food displays, Japanese sweets, and dumplings. Yakitori is skewered, grilled, and served as is, making it easy to eat, easy to prepare; it is an exceptionally efficient method.
